What is Embodied Awareness Coaching?

Embodied Awareness Coaching’s gentle approach with its deep listening, and attuned, non-judgmental presence, and kind, enquiring and supportive dialogue, helps you to recognise, discover and explore the wealth of sensations, movements, stillness and emotions that are always available to you so you can become familiar and comfortable with your inner landscape and all its resources. 

I am a fellow traveller, accompanying you, supporting, encouraging, and sometimes gently challenging you to re-experience and reclaim the riches of your embodied self-awareness, which can lead to  greater self-acceptance, love and compassion, and an increased ability to be more comfortable in your body. 

The approach is to meet all sensations and emotions with kindness, allowing whatever arises to be met and known, though we never what may arise so the process is also about increasing your ability to be in and with the unknown. From the unknown and being present will come material from the unconscious, from the body memory, words, images, memories may arise so they can be felt, acknowledged, witnessed, validated and integrated.

The session is 1 hour long, the client is clothed, and sitting, standing, lying and moving are all possible parts of a session.

The client is invited to turn their attention inwards, to notice, and may be asked to share what they are noticing, there may be spells of dialogue and spells of gently and more deeply listening inwards.

There may be additional exercises, gentle guiding, suggestions to place a hand somewhere on your body, permission may be asked to place a hand on your body if we are working in-person.

My work is also informed by my coaching and counselling experience, by my ongoing continuous education and personal development.

I’ve found Jane to be very empathetic and non-judgmental, and found her work using the Method to be really helpful in coming to terms with formative events spread over many years, some in conscious memory, others unconscious. Working with Jane is the best thing I’ve done to help with my mental health. I’ve struggled with complex PTSD for most of my life and have done loads of other therapies, all of which have given me greater insight into my condition and many skills, but nothing has really helped me manage the emotional flashbacks I have…. Till now. 

I don’t really understand how it works but Jane’s use of Rosen is a very gentle therapy and with it I’ve been able to revisit traumatic events in a very safe and gentle way which has avoided my being traumatised all over again. Something fundamental has shifted in me. I’m finding I’m getting better and better at managing my flashbacks by connecting with other people instead of hiding away from people in shame.


Jane is more of a ‘fellow traveller’ than a traditional therapist. She holds my hand, both literally and metaphorically when I’m exploring something difficult that comes up in a session. She is very kind, compassionate and extraordinarily skilled.
